In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace ...In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to His purpose who works all things after the counsel of His will, ...In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation-having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God's own possession, to the praise of His glory.Jesus said, "even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me." [John 17:21 NASB]. If you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, then you are in Him as He is in you.
In Him we have been redeemed. Romans 3:23 says, "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" [Romans 3:23 NASB]. Our sin created a debt that we could never pay. After all, "The wages of sin is death" [Romans 6:23 NASB]. All of our good works fall short of God's standard. But what we couldn't do, Jesus did for us. Although we earned an eternity in hell because of our sin, Jesus died on the cross, shedding His blood as a payment for the sins of all humanity. All who believe will receive His forgiveness. This is an exceptional act of grace which He lavished on us.
Through His redemption, we are made aware of "the mystery of His will". Which is that, in the fullness of time, He will unite all things in Heaven and on earth under the Lordship of Jesus. His kingdom is in the spiritual world, but one day, He will return and establish His kingdom on earth. In the end, Heaven will come to earth.
In Him, we have an inheritance in His kingdom, having been chosen according to His purpose.
As a pledge of our inheritance, we who have believed have been sealed by the the Holy Spirit. He is given to us as a promise of what is to come. The world was redeemed when Jesus paid the price of our sins on the cross. We were redeemed when we proclaimed that Jesus is our Lord. We will ultimately be redeemed when His kingdom comes. We will have new bodies that carry none of the weaknesses of this flesh.
Then we will have an eternity to bow before the throne of God in worship, to the praise of His glory.
