For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures.Romans 1:18-23 NASB
God answers the question of what happens to people who have never had the opportunity to hear the gospel. Are they innocent by virtue of never having heard the truth to either accept or reject it? The answer is no. They are accountable.
God has revealed Himself to man through His creation. God has placed within the heart of everyone the ability to find and know Him. Instead, because of sin, they suppress the truth, and refuse to honor Him as God. When you see the complexity of the universe, and the diversity of life on this planet, the idea that it could all happen by accident is laughable.
What is not laughable is a world that denies creation. As He says, their speculations (i.e. big bang and evolution) are futile. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and they are without excuse. The result is that the wrath of God will be revealed from heaven against them.
